In March 2017, intersex advocates from around Australia and Aotearoa/NZ came together in Darlington, Sydney, to identify common issues and concerns, and agree a consensus statement. In addition to publishing the Darlington Statement, more intersex people are now more visible, and our voices are more connected across our countries than ever before. We want to continue this work of progressing the rights of intersex people. We also want to help further develop the capacity of intersex advocacy by intersex people, and make it easier for allies to recognise our concerns and work alongside us.

To this end, the AIS Support Group Australia, OII Australia, and the National LGBTI Health Alliance are organising a second retreat, to be held in Sydney on 9-10 April 2018, immediately before the Alliance’s Health in Difference conference on 11-13 April.

If you were born with an intersex variation / variation in sex characteristics and you live in Australia or Aotearoa/NZ, we invite you to express your interest in participating in the retreat by completing the EOI form below before Wednesday 21 February 2018.
