An Intersex Awareness Day presentation and Q&A in the Dr Chau Chak Wing Building, by Morgan Carpenter, president of OII Australia. The event is kindly supported by UTS Equity and Diversity Unit.
A submission to an inquiry stated to be on access to gender recognition by trans people. OII Australia was invited or requested by a range of parties to comment on numerous occasions during the inquiry submission period, and thus we made a submission despite the narrow suggested scope of the inquiry.
A speech given on intersex and ageing to a local NSW audience on Monday 2 February by Morgan Carpenter. It follows the 2012 publication of an intersex-inclusive national strategy for LGBTI ageing and aged care. A massive subsequent shift in terminology from LGBT to LGBTI hasn’t been matched by an increase in understanding or action.
Intersex community organisations will be present at Sydney Mardi Gras Fair Day for the first time this year: OII Australia and the AIS Support Group Australia share a stall on Sunday 22 February.
Open community social events for people with intersex variations will start in Sydney on 9 December 2014, in partnership with the AIS Support Group Australia. Anyone with an intersex variation is welcome, as are parents and families of children and adults with intersex variations. You don’t need to be a member of either organisation to come along.

Morgan Carpenter was a plenary speaker at Courageous Voices, the LGBTI Mental Health Conference 2014.
