Caster Semenya: “Too Fast To Be A Woman?”

Maxx Ginnane’s documentary on Caster Semenya aired on SBS Australia this evening, and is still available on demand for 15 days.

The documentary tracks the difficult time leading up to a decision by the IAAF on whether she could run again after she was suspended once her sex was called into question.

It’s an excellent documentary, with extensive interviews with Caster, her family, representatives of sporting bodies, and others. It’s highly recommended.

Sadly, the issues about Caster’s ability to run remain contentious, and the IOC and IAAF have introduced a deeply flawed sex test in preparation for the 2012 Olympics. Take a look at some recent articles on the issue via the OII Australia site, and a wider international set of reports on the OII international site.
