ACNC Registered Charity

Help us protect the rights of people born with intersex variations!

Unlike a range of generalist “LGBTI” organisations that lack specific expertise, Intersex Human Rights Australia receives no funding from the federal government, and only intermittent project funding from the Victorian state government. We receive no funding from clinical or human rights institutions. Our voice is uniquely our own, but it remains rarely heard.

Since the end of 2016 we have benefitted from foreign philanthropic funding to enable us to pay for two part-time staff positions. We have funding for one year from the Victorian government to pay for an administration worker. These roles have transformed our organisation, helping us to engage in systemic advocacy, and build evidence, community, and education and information resources – but these roles remain precarious and fixed term. We currently seek funding to support a junior/early career lawyer position and a communications person, and to extend funding for our administration worker. Please consider supporting Intersex Human Rights Australia!

We are recognised by the Australian Taxation Office as a charity and Public Benevolent Institution. Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible. Read our Governance page.

We have received Equivalency Determination status from TechSoup/NGO Source, annually renewed to 30 June.
