The Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome Support Group Australia is holding its annual conference in Brisbane on 8-9 August this year. Here’s the open invitation by AISSGA president Bonnie Hart:

The AISSGA is a peer-based, not-for-profit support group for people with an intersex variation or who have someone who is intersex in their family.

2015 National Conference – Brisbane 8-9 August

OPEN INVITATION

Once a year our members meet in a different capital city to spend time, share experiences and talk about practical things like health, relationships and advocacy. Our members receive much benefit from sharing their stories, time and experiences with others within a nurturing environment to create platforms for understanding. Attendees come from all walks of life, may be newly diagnosed, a parent of a child with an intersex variation or the partner of an intersex person.

This year’s conference will be held in Brisbane on the weekend of 8-9 August 2015 and is only possible due to the generous support of the National LGBTI Health Alliance. The AISSGA would like to extend an open invitation to all intersex people and their families to become members of our group and attend this free conference. The afternoon information session on Saturday 8th August, will be open for allied health care professionals and organisations who are also members to attend.

The conference features presenters who are leaders in the field of medicine, research, social inclusion and personal development. This mixture of information and emotional support does wonders for promoting wellbeing. Many people who attend our conference may have never met another intersex person face-to-face before and the experience of being amongst others can be simply transformational.

There is a small travel bursary available to assist those who are financially disadvantaged for covering travel costs associated with attending. Let us know if you would like to access this limited fund.
